New Building Project
We Have Exciting News!
We are thrilled to share some exciting news with you: The Gate has recently taken a significant step forward in our mission and ministry by purchasing a new property. This property, located at 300 Court Street in Oshawa – the Church of the Good Shepherd – will become our new home and a hub for our growing community.
Both our lease ending and exponential growth have highlighted the need for a larger space where we can serve more effectively. This new location offers us the opportunity to expand our ministries, host more events, and better serve our community.
Some of you might recognize this building as the former home of our friends at The Refuge.

Next Steps: Renovations
We have been extremely blessed with all your support over the years that we are in the position to purchase the property outright. This leaves us with the cost of renovations, approximately $250,000–300,000. Before we secure financing through the bank, we are reaching out to our supporters.
Some of the major renovation projects include:
-
- Remove and build walls
- New commercial kitchen on the main floor
- New bathrooms on the main floor
- Make the building accessible
- Move fence and create parking
- Drawings and permits
How You Can Help
We deeply appreciate the past and ongoing support we receive. As we prepare to transition to our new home, we are reaching out for help in two key areas:
#1 – Financial Support
- Donations: Your generous contributions will help us cover the costs associated with the purchase and renovations of our new building, as outlined above.
- Interest-Free Loans: If you are in a position to offer an interest-free loan, it would greatly assist us in managing the financial aspects of purchasing and renovating.
- Loans With Interest: With this option you can receive the interest payment or donate it back to The Gate to receive a charitable donation.
If you are interested, please contact Alan (see below).
#2 – Hands-On-Deck
-
Skilled Help: We will need volunteers with various skills (e.g., carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting) to help with the renovation process.
-
General Assistance: For those who may not have specific skills but are willing to help, there will be plenty of opportunities to assist with various tasks.
If you are interested, please contact Alan (see below).
